PRE ELECTROLYSIS
GUIDELINES

Hydration

Start increasing your water intake now! Proper hydration ensures that the deeper layers of your skin retain moisture, making hair removal more effective. Dehydrated hair follicles are more difficult to treat, and staying hydrated also promotes faster healing.

Stop Hair Removal Methods

Cease tweezing, waxing, threading, or any other hair removal techniques immediately! Shaving or trimming is acceptable between appointments, but visible hair is necessary for treatment. Ideally, allow at least three days of hair growth before your consultation.

Medical Consultation

If you have any health conditions affecting your skin, heart, blood, or hair growth, consult your doctor before proceeding with electrolysis.

Avoid

On the day of your appointment, steer clear of caffeine, chocolate, and sugar, as they can increase sensitivity during treatment.

Refrain from sun exposure or tanning beds for at least 48 hours before your appointment to prevent blood vessel dilation.

Discontinue the use of retinoids at least one week before treatment.

Good Hygiene

Keep the treatment area clean to prevent bacteria from spreading after electrolysis. Avoid applying lotions, oils, or creams beforehand. Examples include staying makeup-free for facial treatments and deodorant-free for underarm treatments.

Cosmetic Injections

Wait at least two weeks after receiving cosmetic injections (such as Botox or dermal fillers) before scheduling an electrolysis treatment.

POST ELECTROLYSIS CARE

Skin Healing & Hydration

Keep your skin well-hydrated by drinking plenty of water.

Apply a soothing, fragrance-free moisturizer or aloe vera to calm the skin.

Avoid touching or scratching the treated area to prevent irritation.

Avoiding Irritants

Refrain from using harsh skincare products, including retinoids, exfoliants, and alcohol-based toners, for at least a week.

Do not shave, wax, or tweeze in the treated area between sessions.

Avoid tight clothing that may cause friction or irritation on the treated skin.

Hygiene & Cleanliness

Keep the treated area clean by gently washing with mild soap and water.

Avoid using makeup, lotions, deodorant, or oils on the area for at least 24 hours.

Use clean pillowcases and towels to reduce the risk of bacteria exposure.

Managing Sensitivity

Some redness, swelling, or slight tenderness is normal and should subside within a few hours to a couple of days.

Apply a cold compress or ice pack (wrapped in a clean cloth) to reduce swelling if needed.

If irritation persists, use over-the-counter hydrocortisone cream or consult your electrologist for further advice.

Sun & Heat Protection

Avoid sun exposure and tanning beds for at least 48 hours.

If you must be outdoors, use SPF 30+ sunscreen on the treated area.

Stay away from saunas, hot tubs, and steam rooms for 48 hours to prevent irritation.

Follow-Up & Next Steps

Stick to your recommended treatment schedule for optimal results.

Track any skin reactions and inform your electrologist at your next session.

Be patient—electrolysis is a process, and multiple sessions are required for permanent hair removal.

ELECTROLYSIS
FAQ's

Welcome to our Electrolysis FAQ page! Here, we answer the most common questions about electrolysis to help you better understand the process and what to expect. If you have any additional questions, feel free to contact us!

What is Electrolysis?
Electrolysis is a permanent hair removal method that uses a small electrical current to destroy hair follicles, preventing future hair growth. It is a safe and effective treatment approved by the FDA.

How Does Electrolysis Work?
A fine probe is inserted into the hair follicle, and a small electrical current is applied to destroy the follicle’s growth center. Once treated, the follicle will no longer produce hair.

Is Electrolysis Permanent?
Yes! Electrolysis is the only FDA-approved method for permanent hair removal. Unlike other hair removal techniques, it eliminates hair at the root, ensuring long-term results.

Does Electrolysis Hurt?
The sensation varies from person to person. Some describe it as a mild stinging or tingling sensation, while others find it completely tolerable. Most modern electrolysis treatments use techniques to minimize discomfort.

How Many Sessions Are Needed?
The number of sessions varies depending on the area being treated, hair type, and individual hair growth cycle. Multiple sessions are required to achieve complete and permanent results.

Is Electrolysis Safe?
Yes! Electrolysis has been used for over 100 years and is considered a safe procedure when performed by a trained professional. There are no long-term side effects.

What Areas Can Be Treated with Electrolysis?
Electrolysis can be used on almost any part of the body, including the face, eyebrows, upper lip, chin, underarms, bikini line, and more.

Can Electrolysis Be Used on All Hair Types and Skin Tones?
Yes! Unlike laser hair removal, electrolysis is effective on all hair colors and skin tones, making it a great option for everyone.

What Should I Expect After a Session?
After a session, you may experience slight redness or minor swelling, which typically subsides within a few hours. Proper aftercare, such as moisturizing and avoiding sun exposure, will help with healing.
